"Dear Mr. Wills. Enclosed is a note from Mr. Kipling, by which you will see that the ballad cannot go in this week. Don't you think it might be as well to give "Literature, Art & the drama" precedence over the fashion letters ? My idea is that the Smocking room & Boudoir columns might be amalgamated with advantage. Very truly yours [...]. I have yet received the hoof of the chapter [?] the pursuit of Lahenp[?]".
Depuis l’arrivée de Rudyard Kipling, à Londres, en 1889, Rider Haggard et lui furent liés par une grande amitié, qui ne devait jamais se démentir.
Encre brune sur double feuillet de papier vergé filigrané "Excelsior Superfine". En-tête gravé "Ditchingham house Norfolk" avec pierre hiéroglyphique.
Ditchingham House était la maison de l’auteur Sir Henry Rider Haggard (1856-1925), dans le Norfolk.
