Wilkin est honoré qu'un aristocrate francais, ayant entendu parlé d'un de ses tableaux, prévoit un voyage uniquement à dessein de le voir :

"Dear Sir. The Baron Bacot (a French nobleman) [Bacot de Romand] has been induced from the reports he has heard of my Picture, to make a journey to Battel for the sole purpose of seeing it. I cannot but feel this circumstance as highly flattening to myself [...]".
