Le directeur du Muséum d’Edinburgh reçoit deux stèles funéraires de Perse.
Thomas Croxen Archer (Northamptonshire, 1817/1885)Botaniste anglais, il est membre de la Royal Scottish Society of Arts (qu'il préside en 1874). Il dirige le musée de science et d'art d'Édimbourg de 1860 à 1885.
Description :
" The two Persian tomb tiles have arrived. It was unnecessary to send them as I went to see them at Mr Mayers and refused to entertain the idea of prizechasing it at such a price.
As however it is here I have asked the Department to make you an offer for this Museum".
