Description :
«I can tell you little about the French authors of the present for I've been remiss in reading them, but French literature has been part of my food as a writer : Zola, Flaubert, Stendhal, particularly, Balzac from afar, De Maupassant nearby, Malraux, Baudelaire -- gosh, how could one be a writer today without profound affection for French literature? In any rate, I think it must be difficult to be a modern French writer when such mountains ranges throw their shadows».
